hello im new to this list, and have a question: i have a old chronograph, probably like late 40's/maybe 50's (ok ok maybe even 60's??) chronograph, and all it says on it is "delaware"... it has minute/hour/sweep second hand, with three smaller dials at 3, 6, and 9 o'clock positions, and im not sure what they keep track of. i cant seem to find any information on this particular watch, and was wondering if anybody out there has ever heard of this timepiece? any wisdom would be appreciated. thanks in advance! kevin :) |

It's a generic Swiss nameplate (there are thousands). Its value would be determined by the quality of the movement. The most common ones are Landeron, Venus, Valjoux and Lemania. These can identified by a stamp and number usually around the balance wheel. |

You need to post a URL to a scan. It's really hard to say without looking at it. In general 3 register chronographs are rarer and more desirable than 2 register chronographs. If it looks a bit like a tuna can with lugs it's probably a Valjoux 77xx which are not as desirable as a two digit Valjoux (22, 72, 72, 92) as the latter had column wheels while th former are cam/lever actiated and made from punched steel plates. Venus and Landron 3 register chornographs are rare (and threfore desirable). Val 77xx chronos are not uncommon, but still, anuthing with 3 registers is a good thing. |
