I purchased my first VC watch (ref 47200/1, 18k Patrimony power reserve with date). It has the caliber 1127 movement (auto, 45 jewels) which I understand is based on the JLC caliber 928. Setting the date: This watch is different from any other that I have. To set the date, I need to pull out the winding stem and then depress the register. If I do this, I can advance the date as much as I wish. If I do not pull out the winding stem, depressing the register will only advance the date by one day - even if I depress the register more than once. I assume this is a safety mechanism as the watch movement stops when the winding stem is pulled out. However, none of my other high end watches require this step to change the date by more than one day. I want to make sure everything is "OK" with the watch. Is this common for the caliber 1127? Do all VC watches with date that have a register operate like this? I can return the watch if I wish so any guidance is greatly appreciated. I uploaded a picture of the dial and back and can upload more or email better quality images if needed. Best regards, Troy Duncan

Your VC 1127 IS a JLC 928. The ONLY difference is the engraved automatic rotor. To quick change the date, you only need press the pusher @ 2. The crown is not connected to this mechanism. As you have to pull the crown for the quick date to operate properly, your watch has a problem. Most likely, the quick date has been used between 9pm and 3am resulting in damaged wheels. These need to be replaced and the watch serviced. Leo |
