I inherited a Chronographe Suisse watch from my father. I remember him wearing the watch in the 1950s. It has not run for a couple of decades. I know nothing about watches, although I am interested in all things mechanical. I would appreciate any information about this watch, such as likely year of manufacture, likely cost to repair, wisdom of spending money to repair it, worth in present condition and after repair, etc. Thank you. 1950s soulds about right. These have almost paper thin 18k case and hollow lugs, so there isn't a lot of gold in them. The watch is probably worth $600-750 in running condition with an overhaul of a chronograph easily running into the $350-400 range. So I'm not sure it's a cost effective fix if your intent is to sell it. |
