I have been given a pocket watch (silver) its a really nice time piece, however I'm not sure about its manufacture. Its octogon shaped and I know it dates back to at least cira 1926 as the inside of the case is engraved with a message to my great uncle and is dated Dec 25/1926. What puzzles me is the case is labeled Illinois Watch Case Company, Elgin, Spartan followed by a sequence of serial numbers. The face of the watch is embossed with the word Creol and the inner working are reflected as 15 Jewels, Swiss, and the Buren Watch Company. Was it common practice to put a swiss time piece into an American case? Can anybody direct me to a website that might help me determine a value?
