I was hoping that a couple of the regulars could share their expertise on general instructions for automatic winding mechanical watches.
I hope I'm not commiting a big 'no-no' by hand winding my auto winding watches. It never even occured to me to ask this until recently. Some of the automatics I have seem to resist being wound using the usual method of twisting the crown in alternating directions. Is this potentially damaging to the watch? Is it better to wind in only one direction?
Thank you for your input.

If it is a properly running watch, there is no risk hand winding an automatic. In fact, it's preferable to hand wind in 5-10 times to get it going initially.
