PIAGET 18 Kt. Gold Wrist Watch 4 mm thickness(is it thin or ulta thin for those times???) [including the thickness of glass] - With integrated bracelet 18 Jewels - Case No.157 / 904 This number can be found both on rear and front pieces of the case - Caliber No.9P Movement No.580605. A symbol of key and numeric 2 can be found adjacent to hallmark. This fine time piece was originally purchased by Sheikh Abdulla Bassam [whose name is inscribed on the back of the case], who was a diplomat stationed in New Delhi immediately after the India got its Independence from British in the year 1947, he being personal friend of the then Prime Minister of India, namely, Jawaharlal Nehru, he presented the same to Mr.Nehru as a gesture of their personal friendship. In turn, Mr.Nehru presented this Watch to one of his closest friends, Mr.Srinivas Mallaiah, who was one of the most powerful politician and lobbyist from South India. It is from Srinivas Mallaiah, our family came into possession of this Writ Watch. Infact, I got this Watch repaired by one of the oldest and most prominent watch makers situate in Delhi about 7 to 8 years back. When they required certain parts, I had to write to the Company requesting them for the parts and calling upon them to fax me a quotation regarding the same. To my surprise, the Company forwarded me with the parts free of costs and with a forwarding letter saying that it is their privilege to supply the parts to this Watch. I was really moved by this gesture and impressed with the pride of the Company and their commitment to support their product even after a period of about 50 years.
