Hi, I have a woman's watch that is approx 1 5/8" x 2 1/16". It says Bulova on the face, has 12 small chips (diamonds?) on the face. the word Bulova is spelled correctly even though the picture doesn't show it. It says Bulova water resistant 18K Gold 2966401 swiss made on the back. It takes a small battery. It was found outside and appears to have rust marks at the hinges but other than that, the goldish metal appears merely dirty. It is reasonably heavy. I plan to see if I can get it working, plan to keep it, but am curious.

Is the back steel? Does he rest of it feel like gold? |

I can't see where it says steel anywhere but it doesn't show any signs of rust, so I would think it is steel. I can only see signs of rust at the pins that hold the links of the bracelet together and it rubs off the links very easily. I am not sure what gold feels like but it is reasonably weighty for what I would expect gold to feel like. As I said, it is dirty but buffs up nicely with a bit of rubbing. I plan to take it to my jeweler's when I return home but that won't be for a few months and I am kind of excited. I know it probably isn't worth much, but I really like it and would pay for the repair to two links if it is real. Thanks for any help that you can give. Oh, I did send these pictures to a guy I called at Bulova and he is helping to investigate it as well, so I will update you with his opinion when I get it if you are interested. |

The guy at Bulova hasn't gotten back to me. What a disappointment. Oh well, I guess I can try to call him back. So what do you think Zaf? |

Honestly, I don't know. Take it to a jewelry store and ask them if the top is gold. If it's gold it's most likely real. I'm not aware of people faking Bulovas to any extent, they usually go for more expensive brands. |

In my opinion, the Bulova in the picture is a knockoff. I doubt there is any gold in it at all. |
