On eBay, item 4904404486....a fake Jaeger-LeCoultre with a poorly
painted dial and what looks to be an ETA based movement. This one isn't
even close! It's pathetic someone is going to get swindled for that much
money.

I have seen a watch very similar to this one. Have Jaeger ever produced a watch that looks like this one? If so could someone please tell me the name/model number and how I could tell if the watch I have seen is genuine. If someone has pictures of the real watch, if it exists, I would be excedingly grateful if they could post them. thanks in advance for any replies. |

Do you have a photo? An ETA based JLC in this configuration would be a counterfeit. |

Harry, The auction text states: "We are offering for sale this unique, high quality Swiss made wrist watch. The dial states that it is a "Jaeger-le Coutre Chromometer", however we cannot confirm this although both the inside of the back of the case and the movement are both similarly signed. Nonetheless, we can confirm that this is a very high quality Swiss automatic mechanical movement calibre number ETA 2788/1 which is currently used in new watches which are selling for in excess of 500.00." Just how much plainer does the seller have to make it? It is CLEARLY a fake/counterfeit. The seller even tells you its an ETA movement. JLC doesn't use ETA movements... they make their own movements in-house. The seller never calls the watch a JLC anywhere in the listing, but only a "swiss made wristwatch". The name Jaeger in the title is even in quotations as if to suggest "Jaeger-like" instead of true JLC. Obvious fake and the seller even tells you this all over the auction, if you read carefully.
