Hi all, This is my first post to this forum. I've had a great time browsing this website for the past few months and was waiting for an opportunity to test your skills and experience. So here goes... Today a dealer offered me the Breguet watch seen in the images below. According to the dealer, the watch case is stainless steel, 38mm diameter, with a rotating bezel. He claims the movement is a Valjoux 72 and that the watch is functioning fine, ie keeping decent time (accuracy 10-20 seconds a day) and that the chrono operates properly (ie the counters all reset to zero). I am not too familiar with the history and ins-and-outs of this Breguet model and would therefore appreciate any insight you may be able to give as to whether this watch is genuine, and if so, what its value might be. BTW, one specific issue I noticed is that the bezel looks different from the bezels I saw on similar Breguets I found online. Any input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance for your kind assistance, and kudos for an entertaining site. Cheers, David Glassman dglassman [AT] bezeqint [DOT] net

The watch is not genuine. I won't get into why it is a fake in public as it only benefits the fakers, but I am certain the watch is not the real thing. Not a single part is. |

First and foremost, thanks, Zaf, for your assistance and for helping me save my well-earned dollars. Your help and professionalism is much appreciated. My curiosity has been piqued by your response and I am interested to receive a bit more info about why you believe so strongly that this watch is a fake. If you agree to share such info but prefer not to do so in public, I'd appreciate it if you send me an email to my private email address: dglassman[at]bezeqint[dot]net Cheers and all the best, and thanks again for your kind assistance. Let's start with the Breguet Type 20 does not have a Valjoux 72. The Type 20 should have a fly back movement. The Valjoux 72 does not fly back. There are at least 10 other indicators that tell me it is a fake. |
