If a watch is identified as being goldtone is there any gold involved or is goldtone just a gold colored plastic coating?

Thanks

Typically it means gold-electroplate. So yeah, there is some gold in it, but not much. The more expensive plating will give you a "micron" rating, the more microns, the thicker the plate and the more gold it has. If that is missing, assume a very very thin layer.
