I was given this watch 30 years ago.My wife was told in a retail shop that it would probably cost 3000 pounds stirling when new. I have my doubts! It is manual, no second hand, movement has serial No.2071588 or 33. The inside caseback is numbered 9046. Also PHC 18K 0,750. What do you think?

I'm afraid the retail shop was quite a bit off the mark. These models were introduced in the late 1960s and sold for approximately $185 new.

That's a hell of a difference. Story of my life!
Never mind, now I can wear it and enjoy it!

There are a couple of these up for bid on eBay right now. I suspect they will sell for more than $185, but a lot less than $6,000.

Unfortunately, small, thin men's watches are not in fashion right now.

Take care,

$185 was the price when new in the 1960s (which is what the OP was asking about). Current auction value seems to be about $600-750. I sold a nearly identical model last month.
