I may have posted my original question under the wrong location, so I will try again. This is my first post on this site. Looking for some info on a watch that was procured from a German soldier during WWII. It has a name engraved along with the serial number. Hoping to find family of original owner to return to them. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

Not much to go on, Sunnyboy - are you looking for the watch, or do you have such a watch? In either event, what does it look like, what name and serial #, where and when was it 'procured' and by whom? The people here know a lot but are not psychic! :-)

Oh I'm sorry, Christopherg - I didn't realize a junior member would be screening the posts for the administrators. I can't imagine you would talk to me that way face to face. :-)

Sorry - didn't mean to offend, there really is very little info in your question. I would have said exactly the same thing face to face, but the sparkle in my eye might have mollified you. Good luck with the senior members!

I have included some photos of the watch. I guess I'm just looking for some idea where I might start to find this family. Is there anyway to track serial numbers to location where it was purchased. What is the history of this model and is the name on the watch German, Jewish? Just looking for any help. Sorry to Christopherg, just a little on edge, my bad. Thanks.

Hi. This is not a military watch. It just happens to be acquired during WWII if you know that for a fact. So, all you have to go by is the name. So you pretty much know as much as I do. I think your only chance is to try one of the German 'people search' type sites, but that's a long shot.

Search on the engraved name as the watch will have no bearing in trying to locate the person.

This watch probably ended up in a pfandhaus (pawn shop) in germany. Someone inherited it and sold it to a pawn broker. Then a yank bought it.
