hi, I have here a Longines - Wittnauer U.S. Army Navigation Master Watch in a metal tin. It was made around 1940. It has broken glass & is a bit worn on the back, it's in good running condition. can u help me with a rough value & tell me if its worth fixing. Thanks.    |

I can't read the case back, but normally this is an aircraft navigation or naval navigation pocket watch. Not tanks. |

ok, on the back it has: U.S. ARMY A.C. Navigation Master Watch Type A-9 MFR'S Assy. Dwg. No.21/29 Serial No. A.C.40-392 Contract No. W.535AC-14164 Specifications No. 27783 LONGINES-WITTNAUER Watch Co. Inc. New York There is also a small triangle, in side it has (AC 263). If it is somehing I am selling, Hard to tell from the pic, if the dial is not in good shape, probably $800-1000 if it looks better than the photo, then more. |

The dial is as bad as it looks, Is the dial repairable, if so would it loose it's value or should it be left alone. |

It should be left alone, refinishing it would be if worse. If you look hard enough, you might be able to find an original replacement. |

The GCT msrking stands for Greenwich Central Time. It is used in air navigation. Take the Greenwich time and subtract it from local time determined by a noonday sun shot and you have longitude.
