Post any question you'd like and I will follow through with an answer. I'm looking for question about classic military watches 25 years old and older. Authenticty questions welcome, picture always are of help. Just keep in mind that I don't know much about newer watches (after 1980), Seiko, Casios and low end stuff of the sort.

Best,
Zaf

Looks to be from about 1920 to 1925. Very nice movement it seems! Nice watch.

Hi Zaf !
I bought one Longines of the Military type. Is there any Longines records showing the s / n of the watches issued to the armed forces during WW II.
All the best,
Hector.

Not that I know of.

We can date the movement though, so combined with other markings that can be used to authenticate someting.

An old Silvana that came my way. Original dial and hands...keeps wonderful time. I'm guessing the day from the early fifties to late/mid forties. Any thoughts?
John

Hi John,

I don't think it is military. It sort of looks like the German "DH" marked watches, but those would be screw backs. The backs would be stamped D XXXXXX H where X is a digit.

This Alpina is not a "DH" but a "D", that means it was provided to Lutwaffe...

Here another watch (military ?), it is a LONGINES from 1940 and it is for sale...

Longines 1940 watch

Hi, I dont have a picture handy, but I am trying to find any information on a Longines watch I own.
The story goes..it was a WWII pilot watch which my grandfather owned.

On the inside of the back, the following is printed:
ACIER INOX
98 5
LONGINES
22521
498

On the movement is printed:

Longines
Swiss Made
16 Jewels
6634172

I would love to know more about the watch, where it was issued, what type of person would wear it, how far it may have traveled.
I often wear it and it reminds me of my grandfather.

If you can help, and it would be uesfull to you I will post a picture tomorrow (at work just now!)

Thanks in advance,
Iain

Hi!
Monica from Bermuda here....
I have a Rose gold Rolex bubbleback that was issued to my great uncle around WWII. From the outside (which is all I can see) it seems in mint condition - worn once or twice. On the front, just under the 12 is a small crown and under that is ROLEX OYSTER then PERPETUAL under that. Just above the 6 is chronometer. It has a black face with roman numerals for 10, 11, 1 and 2. Arabic numerals for 4,5,7 and 8. I think this is called a california face. The back has his name, hometown, military registration number and then Med. Corps. U.S. Army. He was a doctor in the Pacific theater. It is a beautiful watch, but doesn't hold time well. I would like to have it repaired, but there is no one on island that will work with vintage watches. I would like to have some history and also recommendations of people that are good to work on a vintage watch. Thank for all your help! I have been searching for a site like this!
