Hello,
I was wondering if someone could help me identify this watch. Bought it on Ebay 5 years ago. I haven't found information on this watch yet.
Thanksflieger watchflieger watch

Looks like a Russian concoction to me, doesn't look like the real article. What is the diameter of the case?

The watch is 49mm without the crown and 55mm with.
Keep in mind that this was bought before the eastern concoctions syndrome.fliegerflieger 2flieger 3flieger 4

It's definitely a fake, probably Russian.

When flyimg combat missions you want a watch that is as simple as possible no errors could be made in the heat of battle. Our A-11 is a perfect example of a watch worn in combat. Simple simple simple. Yours is much too complicated.

Yes, but the watch pictured is a fake.
I've never been in combat, but I'd imagine something bigger would be easier to read at a glance, on the other hand 55mm is so huge, it's cumbersome.

Zaf I wouldnt bet against it if i were you,
because towards the end of the war, german recources had ground to a halt. They used everything they could fit into the Beobachter-Uhr.
The normal size is 55mm. Look at the pictures I copied and had konrad Knirim have a look at. His only objection was the back and the engraving on the back was, in his opinion new. I would have said the movement was faked, but he said no, that was OK, they took a few parts out of a chrono to make it work and fit in the case.

I don't agree with you sorry.

The picture you're showing me is a Swiss made chrono with parts removed. These are accepted as being real. Albeit many are now being faked using that basic architecture.

The watch in the thread, I am referring to the first watch, judging for the serial number of the MWF, is of POST WAR soviet origin and at 49mm in diameter, doesn't correspond the the FL spec. It's totally made up.

If Mr. Knirim thinks that thing is real, I think we need to have a talk!

Zaf, Mr Knirim nor I said the first watch was not faked, I merely suggested that it might not be faked.Aparantly your knowledge, once again is superior to mine.
I just opened a faked german (Russian) big watch and found the same numbers...443 in mine.(first watch-movement 443 in a circle next to the serial No.)

Are you sure what appears to be a 443 isn't the stamp for the "1st Moscow Watch Factory" i.e. later called Poljot?
It sort of looks like 1443 in a circle.
I wouldn't doubt that they were also stamped just 443 for "moscow watch factory",
but I'm no expert on Soviet watches.
Sometimes they have it in a diamond shape if I recall.

The A-ll Army Air Corps issue was a mere 25mm yet probably the best nav/hack ever, I was issued mine in 1943 and it is still running and I still wear it.
