This is an item in my collection - a WWII era Minerva pocket chronograph, as issued to the Wehrmacht artillery. It is authentic in terms of dating from the period, however, I cannot confirm whether the symbol on the back of the watch case is original (i.e. privately commissioned by the original owner), or post - WWII. The way that the case is pitted within the eagle, I'm tempted to think that someone tried to chemically remove it at one point. Or perhaps the pitting occurred as a result of the ink that was used? Does anyone have any thoughts on this? I have always been very curious as to how this was done.

Anyways, the watch is fully functional, both timepiece and stopwatch.I purchased this item aproximately 2 years ago, my first militaria purchase and perhaps not the wisest, as I've since come to the conclusion that the symbol on the back detracts from the watch, because it cannot be proven to date from the period. Others might find it interesting and disagree. Either way, my emphasis has since turned to collecting German military medals from the Imperial period, and I'm interested in selling the watch to further my sad obsession in this area! Could someone guide me to a dealer who might be interested? What would be the market value of this watch? I am willing to sell it well below market value, or even trade.face
