I have an Omega 6B/159 without any case back markings on the outside. The inside of the case back shows it to be a correct Omega part. Were they ever issued without markings? Also it appears to have an aluminium case. Why would they do that? I can�t believe it would be for weight saving! |

Sounds like a replacement back to me...the aluminuim was either easier to source during the war than steel or was made like that for corrosion. I'm not clear on which one. |

Thanks. Still strikes me as curious that anyone would replace the case back. My Dad bought the watch immediately post WW2, and I would have thought that even getting hold of a watch back would have been difficult, expensive and therefore pretty low on anyones list of things to do. |

Could be a civilan watch to begin with. The case back RAF serial number was used to track inventory, so I don't see how it could go without them in a military application. |
