I have this IWC Mark XI that needs repair, so I am thinking of getting it back to IWC to overhaul it. The face and hands are developing a lovely patina, but the seconds hand is quite worn. If I were to have the case polished, the hands replaced and the lume renewed, do you think I would be diminishing both its monetry and aesthetic value as an authentic Mark XI vintage? What do you think it might be worth now? Any ideas on how to proceed. Thanks, John

I prefer to have the watches as original as possible, especially when it comes to the dial. So, if you are to go the IWC route, maybe you can tell them to keep the dial & handls alone, re-do the sweep second and the case. |

Thank you, Zaf. I would feel more comfortable, I think, not having the dial touched. Do you think the sweep second might look out of place if the hands were not done and it was? What do you think about value if running? |

Value of a strong original example is between $4000 and $5000. I think redoing the second hand is OK. |

By the way we can do "sympathetic" restorations here too. Much cheaper than the factory... |
