Hi there, excuse me if I am in the wrong forum but I have a JLC MK XI circa 1949 which I am looking to sell or exchange for an I-mac computer.

The watch is No48 on the tracking list and has been verified as genuine by JLC. There is a small crack to the plexiglass, the second hand is missing and the hands need a new luminous paint applied. The watch keeps perfect time and is in very good condition.

I am trying to find out the price I should be expecting to get for a sale and would be grateful for any advice.

I would say $3000 or so from what you describe, more if perfect. I can probably buy it outright or consign it for you if you are so inclined. Thanks.

Many thanks Zaf, I am waiting on the watch being returned to me from Le Sentier. As soon as it is back in my hands I will post photos. I am not a collector and although this watch has been handed down through family, my need for a good computer outweighs any sentimental value.

I will be in touch and trust that you will offer a fair price once you have seen the photos.

Kind regards

Don

Be extremely careful with JLC 'restorations'. They can butcher the watch. You should specifically tell them not to replace the hands, the dial (or god forbid refinish the dial) or to over polish the watch.

On your advice I have contacted JLC and had watch returned to me without any work being carried out by them ( I have supporting paperwork for this). I would like to know if I could send the watch to you in order that you may examine it and if happy, make me a fair offer. Alternatively, should you not wish to purchase the watch for yourself would you be in a position to consign it for me?

Many thanks for your help in this matter.
